American aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream received Federal Aviation Administration certification for the jet in July 2018 and, two months later, delivered their first large-cabin G500, according to the publication. Now, the first international delivery has been made to the Qatar Airways subsidiary Qatar Executive, which charters private aircraft, the Robb Report writes.
The two G500s are part of a 2014 purchase by Qatar Airways for up to 30 Gulfstream aircraft, which included G650ERs and the G600, according to the publication. The new business jets will join Qatar Executive’s existing aircraft, which include Bombardier Challenger 605s, Global 5000s, a Global XRS and another Gulfstream jet, the G650ER, according to the Robb Report.
The G500 has a range of 5,984 miles, seats eight passengers, has the cabin pressure capped at 4,850 feet and circulates fresh air every two minutes, the publication writes. Additionally, the lighting, audio and entertainment systems can be controlled from hidden touchpads or smart devices, according to the Robb Report. And that’s only if a smartphone can distract from the 28-inch-wide windows that line the jet, the publication writes.
